Tir Connell Gaels Easter 7’s

For the third year in a row the footballers took part in the Tir Connell Gaels 7’s tournament in Greenford on Saturday 7th April. Drawn in a tough group with Heston Gaels, Tara and Fulham Irish they were always going to find it difficult and this proved the case. Despite not winning any of their games they put in very commendable performances. Well done to all involved. Photos of the day are available on the clubs Facebook page and many thanks to Michaela Biggane for some great pictures. Also huge thanks to Eileen Biggane for the post match food.

Weekend Fixtures

Football- 2.00pm Sunday 15th April v. Eire Og in the McArdle cup in Goodmayes- directions to Goodmayes can be found on the club website.

NO HURLING FIXTURE THIS WEEKEND – So we are having Hurling Training this Sunday 15th April at 12pm instead. Please reply to Don’s teamer messages/emails or drop him a text to confirm attendance.

A good night was had by all back at the Station Pub in Hither Green after both our hurling and football teams had respective victories in the Ronan Cup and McArdle Cup at Goodmayes earlier in the day. A big thank you goes to Cuchulainns Club member James McLoughlin for the use of his pub and for his support and contribution to the prizes on the night. Thanks also to Michael Fitzpatrick from the Downham Tavern for becoming one of our members/sponsors and for contributing to the prizes for the raffle as well.

Race Card Winners:
1. Joe Titley – £200 (Seller: Padraig Biggane, Horse: Oliver Klozov)
2. Aisling Eastwood – £100 (Seller: Chris Eastwood, Horse: Charlie Worley)
3. Sheena McCarren – £50 (Seller: Cathal Murtagh, Horse: Winner)
4. Phil & Donna – £50 (Seller: Michael Fitzpatrick, Horse: Disco Dondon)

Raffle:
Well, I dont know if Gerry Commane and Pat O Connor went around stealing other people’s tickets or whether they just bought the whole book themselves, but they seemed to win nearly every prize in the raffle – the good news is that the raffle brought in about £300 for the club, which is what the night was all about at the end of the day – although the repeated calls of “Fix” should stay with Gerry for quite a while! (although, judging by the amount of alcohol he won in the raffle he’s probably forgotten all about it by now).

The Tote:
Keith McGovern showed us all his skills as an auctioneer raising £480 for the big Auction Race at the end of the evening, half of which goes to the Cuchulainns Club coffers together with all the other Tote money, Race Card, and Raffle money that was raised – in the end we made a total of £650 on the Tote, and all up we took £1,241 from the Race night in total, so well done to everyone for turning up and showing your support – a good night was had by all.

And to finish things off, our Auction Race winner, Mick Rogers, sang us out in fine style – a man of many talents!

Earlier in the day:
Our hurlers won 1-10 to 1-6 against Thomas McCurtains in the Ronan Cup.
Our footballers won 0-17 to 0-6 against Tír Chonaill Gaels (English Born Players) in the McArdle Cup.
