Training- Shooterhillians RFC (directions available on club website)

Outdoor training has now commenced for both hurling and football. The hurlers train every Monday night from 7pm. Please let Don McKenna know your availability by replying to the Teamer messages. Don can also be contacted via the contact page on the club website. The club has purchased new hurls and they are available at training as well – £20 per hurl! Footballers train every Thursday at 7pm onwards at the same venue as the hurlers and if you’re unavailable please let manager DJ Bradley know.  New players are especially welcome to join our club.

Kerry Trip 2012

This weekend sees a party of up to 30 members of the club head to Dingle in Co. Kerry to take part in the Paidi O’Se Football Festival. The club will be entered into the junior football section where we will face a club from Mayo, Limerick or Cork. This promises to be an exciting new chapter in the club’s 80 year history and photos of the weekend will be included on the club website on our return. We wish all those travelling a safe journey.

Race Night

The club is pleased to announce the first fundraiser of the season will be held on Saturday 31st March at the Station Pub, Hither Green (14 Staplehurst Road, Hither Green, London, SE13 5NB). More precise details will be available soon but all players are asked to keep this date free as it promises to be a good night’s craic.

Membership

Membership is now due for the forthcoming year. Prices are as follows:

Players: £40

Elite membership- £260

Non-playing Members- £10

All players will receive their new club kit bag when full membership has been given. REMEMBER- no membership= no insurance= no football/hurling!

London Footballers

Commiserations to club man Sean Kelly who played for the London footballers in their defeat to Fermanagh at the weekend.

Hurling Training this coming Monday 20th February from 7pm to 8.30pm at Shootershillian RFC – Please let Don McKenna know your availability by replying to the Teamer messages he sent out.

We’ve got the keys sorted out this time so everything is set, and don’t forget you’ll be able to buy a new hurl at training on Monday as well – £20 per hurl, good quality too, made by Torpey’s in Sixmilebridge who supply a lot of the top county teams back home.

I’ve also ordered some hurling grip tape and that’s on its way as well – it might not be available this monday but will definitely arrive for the following week’s training.

[Note: We probably won't have the dressing rooms available on Monday nights, so you'll have to change in the car or on the pitch and shower when you get home instead - everything else will be as normal - we may decide to move hurling training to a different night at a later stage but for now we'll see how mondays work out].

Training- Training continues this Wednesday in Shooterhillians Post-16 campus at 7pm. This is the last indoor training before we go outdoors to our usual training facilities at Shooterhillians, RFC. Turnout has been exceptionally high thus far and with many new faces things we are looking very positive for the year ahead.

Six Nations Competition- The deadline for the Six Nations completion has now passed. Results will be posted on the club website and if you require any further details please contact Liam Doherty ( 07702990061)

London National League- The club sends our best wishes to the London Football team as they begin their National League campaign against Peter Canavan’s Fermanagh this Sunday. We particularly wish our club mate Sean Kelly all the very best!

New Arrival

The club would like to congratulate Kieran Wynne and his wife Annmarie on the birth of baby Aidan. We all send our best wishes and hope Aidan follows in the footsteps of his father to play in the red of Cuchulainns.

Training

Training continues in Shooterhill post-16 campus. If you are unsure of how to get there then please give manager DJ Bradley a call 07947437732 and arrangements can be made. So far turnout has been very high and with many new players to add to the squad we may well be entering a reserve team for the forth coming season. There is even a rumour that Chris Eastwood may get a game now alongside Mattie Smith and Larry O’Leary.

Membership

Players please note that membership for the year stands at £40. Without payment you will not be registered and thus your insurance is void so please pay your membership to club secretary, Cathal Murtagh or Mick Rogers. Membership for non-playing members is £10 and we encourage all family members of players to become involved in the club.

Kerry Trip

Anyone travelling with the club MUST give their passport details to Chris Eastwood before next Wednesday. Without these details you will be unable to travel. The following is a brief outline of events for the weekend:

Friday- arrival and training session

-          BBQ

Saturday- early morning training session,

-          Game in early evening

-          Banquet for teams involved

Sunday- 14 mile run through the Dingle Peninsula (or 14 pints depending on your outlook).

Monday- Departure

Please note that money for the trip needs to be paid as soon as possible to either Chris Eastwood pr Mattie Smith.

Sympathy

The club wishes to extend our sympathies to the Doyle family on the death of Brigid- wife of Fulham Irish’s John and former secretary of the club. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.
