Cuchulainns v Tara, Murphy Cup

by Cu Chulainns on April 21, 2013

Final Score:
Cúchulainns 5-08 0-10 Tara

Cúchulainns recorded our second win in two games in the Murphy Cup today with a very good win over Tara at Ruislip. Cúchulainns got things going early on against the breeze with a cleverly taken goal from Robbie Croft, the first of what would be a hat-trick for Robbie by the end of the game. Cúchulainns defence were put under plenty of pressure by Tara but our defence today played very well as a unit with excellent performances from Dan McCusker & Seán O’Connor in particular, but the whole defensive unit was solid throughout.

As ever, Seán Kelly was up and down the field being the playmaker, ably assisted by Mike Murphy and Peter Phelan in the middle of the park who both did well against two giant size Tara midfielders. By half-time we racked up 2 more goals, Robbie’s second followed by a first for Aido. At the break we were 3-04 to 0-07 ahead.

There was some great points taken today as well, with Robbie Croft, Cathal Nicholas, Seán Kelly knocking over some great scores from range. We had a 3 minute spell in the third quarter of the game where we knocked over 3 quick points without reply and that really sealed the game as a contest. A second goal for Aido and a third for Robbie put the gloss on the scoreline and sealed a deserved win for the Cú’s. Well done lads!
