At Gaelic Park in the Bronx last Sunday, NY Donegal junior footballers finally had something to celebrate as they took this year’s championship title. For the past two years, Donegal had reached the junior final but victory had slipped through their fingers, but that all changed Sunday when in an exciting game they celebrated a one point win over Monaghan. There was also plenty of action at the intermediate grade with two semi finals on offer. The first saw Mayo record a very comfortable win over Astoria Gaels where undoubtedly the star of the show, if not the day, was Gerry O’Boyle whose 4 goals and 4 points helped Mayo into this year’s final. The other semi saw number one seed, Armagh run out easy 8 point victors over Dublin. Here to tell us about all the action is New York GAA reporter, Eugene Kyne.
